Preliminary Events
Thirty five of the forty two delegates of Miss Earth 2001 were presented to the media on October 11, 2001 at the poolside of the Hotel Intercontinental Manila in Makati City, Philippines.
The delegates spent 21 days engaging in treeplanting activities, charity visits, courtesy calls on sponsors, dinner parties, attending government seminars on waste segregation and environmental preservation, promoting environmental causes in schools in Metropolitan Manila, and touring the country's top tourist attractions, including the Dos Palmas Resort in Honda Bay, Palawan and other Philippine ecotourism destinations such as Bohol, Banaue Rice Terraces, Benguet, and Davao. The trips were sponsored by the Philippine Department of Tourism and Palawan government.
