The Minolta Vectis S series comprises two models of analogue SLR cameras made by Minolta, the flagship model Vectis S-1 and the Vectis S-100. The cameras feature a compact design, owing to the use of prisms instead of mirrors in the viewfinder.
The Vectis V-lenses used by these models are not compatible with any other lens mount, including Minolta's 35mm AF Dynax/Maxxum/Alpha and the SR/MC/MD-lens-system, and are difficult to adapt to modern cameras to focus normally as the Flange focal distance of the V-mount APS system is only 38mm. Only an early early DSLR camera body, the Minolta RD 3000, also used the V-lens mount.
The Vectis brand was also shared with a number of small APS rangefinder cameras, including the waterproof Vectis Weathermatic and Vectis GX series. The model numbers of these cameras don't include the S prefix used for the SLR series.
Famous quotes containing the word series:
“The professional celebrity, male and female, is the crowning result of the star system of a society that makes a fetish of competition. In America, this system is carried to the point where a man who can knock a small white ball into a series of holes in the ground with more efficiency than anyone else thereby gains social access to the President of the United States.”
—C. Wright Mills (19161962)
