Minnesota Air National Guard

The Minnesota Air National Guard (MN ANG) is the air force militia of the State of Minnesota, United States of America. It is, along with the Minnesota Army National Guard, an element of the Minnesota National Guard.

As state militia units, the units in the Minnesota Air National Guard are not in the normal United States Air Force chain of command. They are under the jurisdiction of the Governor of Minnesota though the office of the Minnesota Adjutant General unless they are federalized by order of the President of the United States. The Minnesota Air National Guard is headquartered in St. Paul, and its commander is currently Major General Richard C. Nash.

Famous quotes containing the words air, national and/or guard:

This was Venice, the flattering and suspect beauty—this city, half fairy tale and half tourist trap, in whose insalubrious air the arts once rankly and voluptuously blossomed, where composers have been inspired to lulling tones of somniferous eroticism.
    Thomas Mann (1875–1955)

His mind was strong and clear, his will was unwavering, his convictions were uncompromising, his imagination was powerful enough to invest all plans of national policy with a poetic charm.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

    Then the bird
breaks with his beak the thread
    of dream within him,
    and the tree unrolls
the shadow that will guard it
    throughout the day.
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)
