Ministry Of Security And Justice (Netherlands)

The Ministry of Security and Justice (Ministerie van Veiligheid en Justitie) is the Dutch ministry of justice. Until 14 October 2010, the ministry was just called Ministry of Justice (Ministerie van Justitie), but at the start of the Rutte cabinet, the name changed because it had taken over some public safety duties from the Ministry of the Interior. The current minister is Ivo Opstelten, he is aided by state secretary Fred Teeven.

Famous quotes containing the words ministry, security and/or justice:

    the eave-drops fall
Heard only in the trances of the blast,
Or if the secret ministry of frost
Shall hang them up in silent icicles,
Quietly shining to the quiet Moon.
    Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772–1834)

Our security depends on the Allied Powers winning against aggressors. The Axis Powers intend to destroy democracy, it is anathema to them. We cannot provide that aid if the public are against it; therefore, it is our responsibility to persuade the public that aid to the victims of aggression is aid to American security. I expect the members of my administration to take every opportunity to speak to this issue wherever they are invited to address public forums in the weeks ahead.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)

Take but degree away, untune that string,
    And hark what discord follows!
    ...
Force should be right, or, rather, right and wrong—
Between whose endless jar justice resides—
Should lose their names, and so should justice too.
Then everything includes itself in power,
    Power into will, will into appetite;
    And appetite, an universal wolf,
So doubly seconded with will and power,
Must make perforce an universal prey,
    And last eat up himself.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
