The Miner's Cup is the trophy awarded to the winner of the college football game between the Northern Michigan University (NMU) Wildcats and the Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech/MTU) Huskies. The rivalry has been around since 1920, but the tradition of a "traveling trophy" between the two schools has only been around since 2002; Tech has won the trophy for seven out of a possible ten times since the tradition was begun.

Famous quotes containing the words miner and/or cup:
“Many a miner has gone
into the deep pit
to receive the dust of a kiss,
an ore-cell.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
“I believe that water is the only drink for a wise man: wine is not so noble a liquor; and think of dashing the hopes of a morning with a cup of warm coffee, or of an evening with a dish of tea! Ah, how low I fall when I am tempted by them! Even music may be intoxicating. Such apparently slight causes destroyed Greece and Rome, and will destroy England and America.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
