Mindanao University of Science and Technology - Semi-government Status

Semi-government Status

Although MUST is enlisted as one of the then-inexpensive major state university in the Philippines, tuition and matriculation fees continue to rise in the past decade. Government subsidy has been gradually withdrawn as it is now a semi-government state university. In a semester, student expenses reach as high as 50% of that of nearby private universities (e.g., Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, Liceo de Cagayan University, Capitol University). As of 2007, only 75 million pesos was appropriated for general administration and support, support to operations, and other operations by the budget department.

Famous quotes containing the word status:

Knowing how beleaguered working mothers truly are—knowing because I am one of them—I am still amazed at how one need only say “I work” to be forgiven all expectation, to be assigned almost a handicapped status that no decent human being would burden further with demands. “I work” has become the universally accepted excuse, invoked as an all-purpose explanation for bowing out, not participating, letting others down, or otherwise behaving inexcusably.
