Millennium Dome Show

The Millennium Dome Show was a multimedia, Cirque du Soleil-esque show created specifically for the year 2000 in the Millennium Dome. The show was directed by Mark Fisher and Peter Gabriel. Mark Fisher designed the show and Peter Gabriel wrote the music, available in the album OVO.

The show detailed the story of a fictional set of beings, that transition from agriculture to industry, while segregating different races. Ovo is the offspring of both races, and is set to sail the sky after a catastrophe occurs.

The show opened on 1 January 2000 and was performed 999 times before closing on 31 December of that year.

Famous quotes containing the words millennium, dome and/or show:

At the end of one millennium and nine centuries of Christianity, it remains an unshakable assumption of the law in all Christian countries and of the moral judgment of Christians everywhere that if a man and a woman, entering a room together, close the door behind them, the man will come out sadder and the woman wiser.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)

A starlit or a moonlit dome disdains
    All that man is,
    All mere complexities,
The fury and the mire of human veins.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

There are so bewilderingly many laws in the Outside World. We of the circus know only one law—simple and unfailing. The Show must go on.
    Josephine Demott Robinson (1865–1948)
