Award Statute

The Military Cross is awarded in two classes to commissioned officers of the Belgian armed forces on the basis of their length of service:

  • Military Cross First Class: Awarded after 25 years of meritorious service as a commissioned officer;
  • Military Cross Second Class: Awarded to a commissioned officer after 25 years of meritorious service in the Belgian military.

Officers of the military reserve can also be awarded this decoration, on the condition that they participated in the yearly training period every year.

Famous quotes containing the words award and/or statute:

    The award of a pure gold medal for poetry would flatter the recipient unduly: no poem ever attains such carat purity.
    Robert Graves (1895–1985)

    Now a Jew, in the dictionary, is one who is descended from the ancient tribes of Judea, or one who is regarded as descended from that tribe. That’s what it says in the dictionary; but you and I know what a Jew is—One Who Killed Our Lord.... And although there should be a statute of limitations for that crime, it seems that those who neither have the actions nor the gait of Christians, pagan or not, will bust us out, unrelenting dues, for another deuce.
    Lenny Bruce (1925–1966)
