Ali's fame grew with every battle that he was in, due to his courage, valour and chivalry, as well as the fact that he single-handedly, destroyed many of Arabia's most famous and feared warriors. The Prophet Muhammad acknowledged him as the greatest warrior of all time.

Famous quotes containing the words military, career and/or ali:

Weapons are an important factor in war, but not the decisive factor; it is people, not things, that are decisive. The contest of strength is not only a contest of military and economic power, but also a contest of human power and morale. Military and economic power is necessarily wielded by people.
    Mao Zedong (1893–1976)

A black boxer’s career is the perfect metaphor for the career of a black male. Every day is like being in the gym, sparring with impersonal opponents as one faces the rudeness and hostility that a black male must confront in the United States, where he is the object of both fear and fascination.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)

That was always the difference between Muhammad Ali and the rest of us. He came, he saw, and if he didn’t entirely conquer—he came as close as anybody we are likely to see in the lifetime of this doomed generation.
    Hunter S. Thompson (b. 1939)
