Classes
All Mililani Middle School students take mandatory core classes. Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science are required classes for all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. 6th grade students also have one elective, and two "wheel" classes, similar to electives, but a student can't choose his or her wheel. The two wheels rotate every quarter. 7th, and 8th graders are given two electives and just one wheel. Wheels include physical education, art, health, etc. In all, a student has eight classes (4 cores, wheels, electives, and advisory). Advisory is character building class, and is held every Wednesday. Electives include New Media Design, Tech Ed, Japanese, Art, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Hawaiian dance,Home economics, yearbook design (in 8th grade) and more.

Famous quotes containing the word classes:
“Of all reformers Mr. Sentiment is the most powerful. It is incredible the number of evil practices he has put down: it is to be feared he will soon lack subjects, and that when he has made the working classes comfortable, and got bitter beer into proper-sized pint bottles, there will be nothing left for him to do.”
—Anthony Trollope (18151882)
“When we of the so-called better classes are scared as men were never scared in history at material ugliness and hardship; when we put off marriage until our house can be artistic, and quake at the thought of having a child without a bank-account and doomed to manual labor, it is time for thinking men to protest against so unmanly and irreligious a state of opinion.”
—William James (18421910)
“My plan of instruction is extremely simple and limited. They learn, on week-days, such coarse works as may fit them for servants. I allow of no writing for the poor. My object is not to make fanatics, but to train up the lower classes in habits of industry and piety.”
—Hannah More (17451833)
