Midlothian Independent School District - Controversial TEA Rating

Controversial TEA Rating

In 2009, the district received a controversial "academically unacceptable" rating by the Texas Education Agency, due to 11 of its 33 "disadvantaged" seniors dropping out of the class of 2008. The rating was given despite the fact that all 6 elementary schools were awarded the highest rating (exemplary), along with 1 Middle school being given the second highest rating (recognized) and the other middle school receiving an academically acceptable rating.

School board officials and many residents oppose the unacceptable rating received from the TEA, and the TEA rating has been appealed. The school district was measured as being exemplary in 22 of 25 academic measurements.

Famous quotes containing the word tea:

There is not enough exercise in this way of life. I try to make up by active gymnastics before I dress when I get up, by walking rapidly in the lower hall and the greenhouse after each meal for perhaps five to ten minutes, and a good hand rubbing before going to bed. I eat moderately; drink one cup of coffee at breakfast and one cup of tea at lunch and no other stimulant. My health is now, and usually, excellent.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
