Midlands State University

Midlands State University is a University in Zimbabwe offering different courses mainly in the commercial and arts sector. The University was previously called Gweru Teachers' College, which was primarily a teacher training college under the University of Zimbabwe. For the first three years, the curriculum was detected by the University of Zimbabwe but now is operating independently.

The commercial degrees are modelled from the University of South Africa curriculum. It offers various degrees in commerce with specialization in different fields such as accounting (Chartered Accountant route), finance, quantitative analysis, marketing, business management, etc.

The main campus is located in Senga area, south east of Gweru central about 15 km (9.3 mi). The road leading to the main campus is poorly developed. It is very close to Fletcher Boys High School, one of the top high schools in terms of academic excellency in Zimbabwe.

Famous quotes containing the words midlands, state and/or university:

Sunday night meant, in the dark, wintry, rainy Midlands ... anywhere where two creatures might stand and squeeze together and spoon.... Spooning was a fine art, whereas kissing and cuddling are calf-processes.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

Death is not natural for a state as it is for a human being, for whom death is not only necessary, but frequently even desirable.
    Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 B.C.)

Cold an old predicament of the breath:
    Adroit, the shapely prefaces complete,
    Accept the university of death.
    Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)
