Following poor play at the HSBC Women's Champions, Wie slammed her hybrid club into the ground and screamed out a four-letter expletive. One spectator said: "I've never heard such an outburst from a professional golfer right in front of the fans. It was terrible to see, especially for the children. What kind of example does that set?". Wie later apologized for her behavior, saying: "But you know, obviously I apologize. It was unacceptable."
