Michael Zapruder - New Ways of Letting Go

In the mid 2000s (decade), Zapruder and some close allies created the Howells Transmitter collective and record label, through which Zapruder released New Ways of Letting Go, an orchestral folk album with a large ensemble called Rain of Frogs. The album was recorded partly by Zapruder and his studio partner Jon Bernson (Ray's Vast Basement, Exray's), and finished in collaboration with Scott Solter. Zapruder toured widely for this release, including appearances at South by Southwest and Pop Montreal.

Famous quotes containing the words letting go, ways and/or letting:

Letting go” ...implies generosity, a talent a good mother needs in abundance. Separation is not loss, it is not cutting yourself off from someone you love. It is giving freedom to the other person to be herself before she becomes resentful, stunted, and suffocated by being tied too close. Separation is not the end of love. It creates love.
    Nancy Friday (20th century)

The child who would be an adult must forgive the parents for all the ways they didn’t raise him or her just right, whether their errors were in loving too much or too little. All parents, as parents of adults, do deflating things that make you feel like a child. If you have children, you’ll do those things too and eventually laugh about them.
    Frank Pittman (20th century)

Growing up means letting go of the dearest megalomaniacal dreams of our childhood. Growing up means knowing they can’t be fulfilled. Growing up means gaining the wisdom and skills to get what we want within the limitations imposed by reality—a reality which consists of diminished powers, restricted freedoms and, with the people we love, imperfect connections.
