Michael Johnson (footballer Born 1973) - Managerial Career

Managerial Career

When Notts County sacked manager Ian McParland, Johnson took over briefly as caretaker manager along side Dave Kevan. During their brief spell at County, they drew against Rotherham United and beat Crewe Alexandra 2–0. When Notts County brought in Hans Backe as manager, Johnson returned to his role as the Youth team Manager. A succession of managers came and went over a short period of time, however Johnson was dismissed when Paul Ince was sacked and replaced by Martin Allen.

"I had to accept that decision and I left, only to find to my horror that an under-12s coach who only had a Uefa B Licence moved into my position of a youth team manager and I was out of work. You look back at the job you've done and the facts; there were youth-team players going into the professional environment, so you've ticked that box. The youth team was successful in the league and the cup, so that box is ticked too, but you carry on looking for a reason as to why you were released. I don't know Martin Allen and he doesn't know me so there is no judgement on personalities. The chance wasn't given for me to show him or to prove myself to him, I was just told I wasn't wanted as part of his team going forward." —Having been highly successful as County's youth team manager, Johnson was frustrated to have been replaced with a much less experienced coach.

He now coaches at Birmingham City.

Clearly, society has a tremendous stake in insisting on a woman’s natural fitness for the career of mother: the alternatives are all too expensive.
