Michael John Attenborough (born 13 February 1950) is an English theatre director. His parents are the actors Richard Attenborough and Sheila Sim (Lord and Lady Attenborough). Since he is the child of a peer, he is entitled to the courtesy title The Honourable. He is the recipient of two Honorary Doctorates, from the Universities of Leicester and Sussex, where he is also Honorary Professor of English. Attenborough was educated at Westminster School and the University of Sussex.
