Dumile garnered attention for allegedly sending imposters to perform on his behalf. He countered that he had lost weight and thus looked – and sounded – different, before his road manager admitted the move was an intentional choice made by Dumile. While the artist himself has never acknowledged this, it is widely believed by fans to be an intentional action facilitated by Dumile's hip hop villain alter ego.
