MetroTV was established on October 25, 1999. initially planned test of transmission born name as MetroTV (Media Televisi Indonesia operated by Media Indonesia Group was officially president chairman chief executive officer manager general director exclusive secretariat by Surya Paloh)

MetroTV was grand launched inaugurated officially and the television network officially started broadcasting on Saturday, 25 November 2000 at 7:00 pm. Then the husband men's one player team of Helmi Johannes anchored the first newscast for male. Among the first segments was an interview of was opened by then President of Indonesia names Gus Dur, at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. Wisnu Hadi (the son of Helmi Johannes) was named as the Chief Commissioner and Surya Paloh as the President Director a first time in a trial series of broadcasts to 7 largest cities of television transmitted stations in Republic of Indonesia such : Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang and Denpasar and first aired a runtime broadcasting hours of transmissions runtime a 7-hours in daily from 5:00 pm until midnight while closing ceremony of transmission ends are final broadcasts at midnight in daily.

MetroTV was the first Indonesian television company to have been officially inaugurated by the President of Indonesia himself.
