Mersey Ferry - Future

Future

In August 2012 it was announced that Merseytravel were initiating a review into cost saving on Mersey Ferries operations after the service is running at a £1 million annual loss. Another aspect threatening the ferries' future is whether Merseytravel will be in a financial position to replace the current vessels should the need arise. The current three vessels are the oldest ever to ply the river. At least TWO replacement vessels may be needed around 2020 and the Royal Daffodil is to be withdrawn from service in early 2013.

Famous quotes containing the word future:

[With the Union saved] its form of government is saved to the world; its beloved history, and cherished memories, are vindicated; and its happy future fully assured, and rendered inconceivably grand.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

I would sum up my fear about the future in one word: boring. And that’s my one fear: that everything has happened; nothing exciting or new or interesting is ever going to happen again ... the future is just going to be a vast, conforming suburb of the soul.
    —J.G. (James Graham)

What seems to us serious, significant and important will, in future times, be forgotten or won’t seem important at all.
    Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)
