Working at Merry Hill gave Catherine O'Flynn the inspiration for the fictional Green Oaks centre, the main location in her successful novel What Was Lost,(link dead); ),.

The Centre made a brief appearance on the Children's TV Show rosie and jim showing the large Sainsburys store and also appeared in Season 7 Episode 4 of Apprentice UK as the "out of town" shopping centre.
