Meridian Middle School

Meridian Middle School is a middle school on Brandywyn Lane, in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

Meridian is one of four in the Aptakisic-Tripp School District. It serves grades 5 and 6. It is also the northernmost school in the district. Students will enter Meridian coming either from Tripp Elementary School or Earl Pritchett Elementary School.

The school was built by 1994 and a referendum was held in the district for another school. From there, Buffalo Grove annexed the land on which the school lay. The school borders the city of Prairie View. After Meridian, the students go to Aptakisic Junior High.The school serves portions of Buffalo Grove,Deerfield,Prairie View,and Lincolnshire.

The school has about 450 students.GreatSchools.org rated the school a 10 stars (best score a school can get). The district of the school is arguably the weakest district that feeds into Adlai E. Stevenson High school in neighboring Licolnshire, but still is considered a great school, maybe one of the best in the nation.

The school has a few athletic programs and clubs. If you are entering 6th grade you can join cross country of track and field. The school has band and Orchestra available to any grade in the school. The school also has countless after school clubs.

Meridian's builduing has an up and down stairs centered by a media center.The 5th graders lockers and classes are located downstairs while the 6th graders have their lockers and classes up stairs. The school has a gym and numerous computer rooms. Several classrooms have iPad's and the school might have everybody assighned to an iPad in a while. The school also has a lunchroom.

Meridian has 4 marking periods or quarters.Each quarter has a different encore class. The 4 encore classes are Public Speaking,Art,music,and Technology. The Students have different math classes depending on there ability and all students have the same level Language Arts. The students also have the same level Science and Social Studies but some classes learn faster than others. The school day starts at 8:00 am and ends at 2:30 pm but many students stay for after school.
