Famous quotes containing the words mercer, county and/or park:

When an irresistible force such as you meets an old immovable object like me.
    —Johnny Mercer (1909–1976)

But I would say to my fellows, once for all, As long as possible live free and uncommitted. It makes but little difference whether you are committed to a farm or the county jail.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Linnæus, setting out for Lapland, surveys his “comb” and “spare shirt,” “leathern breeches” and “gauze cap to keep off gnats,” with as much complacency as Bonaparte a park of artillery for the Russian campaign. The quiet bravery of the man is admirable.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
