Medical Malpractice - Fee Splitting

Fee Splitting

Fee splitting practice is one of the major reasons considered in creation of medical malpractice. Incentives and referral fees to acquire a patient encourages a care provider to do unnecessary treatment, prescribe expensive unnecessary branded drugs, and tests. Patients trust on his doctor is getting exploited by many fee split practitioners and such patients are put through battery of such necessary treatment protocols just to gain money and referral fees.

Dr Akash S Rajpal CEO of Ekohealth is working against the unethical referral fee split system (also referred to as CUT practice) in India. He is stern believer that the fee-split system has artificially inflated the pricing of healthcare services by atleast 30% and is leading to gross medical Mal-practice leading to prescribing unnecessary treatment and tests

Famous quotes containing the words fee and/or splitting:

As a general rule never take your whole fee in advance, nor any more than a small retainer. When fully paid beforehand, you are more than a common mortal if you can feel the same interest in the case, as if something was still in prospect for you, as well as for your client.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

I had an old axe which nobody claimed, with which by spells in winter days, on the sunny side of the house, I played about the stumps which I had got out of my bean-field. As my driver prophesied when I was plowing, they warmed me twice,—once while I was splitting them, and again when they were on the fire, so that no fuel could give out more heat. As for the axe,... if it was dull, it was at least hung true.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
