Meadowhall Interchange - Services

Services

TransPennine Express services between Cleethorpes and Manchester Airport call hourly each way, as do the Sheffield to Hull and Nottingham to Leeds trains operated by Northern Rail. There is an additional Sheffield to Leeds via Barnsley fast service each way every hour during the day on weekdays and Saturdays. The station used to be served a single train to and from London St Pancras each weekday, but this was withdrawn in September 2008.

Northern also provide a half-hourly local service to Doncaster (and beyond) via Rotherham Central and hourly local links with Leeds via Barnsley and via Wakefield Westgate, to Huddersfield and to Lincoln Central via Sheffield and Retford. There are also two daily trains to York via Moorthorpe. These all combine to provide a frequent service to Sheffield (up to eight trains per hour for much of the day), which is further augmented by the Yellow line tram route and First South Yorkshire bus service X78.

Most of the listed routes run every two hours on Sundays, although there is a more frequent service to Doncaster (hourly local and half-hourly express), Cleethorpes and Hull (both hourly) and only a limited service to and from Lincoln. There are also two trains to York - one in the afternoon and a second in the evening.

Services operated by CrossCountry and East Midlands Trains regularly rush through the station, but do not stop.

Famous quotes containing the word services:

O, the difference of man and man!
To thee a woman’s services are due.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    It seems I impregnated Marge
So I do rather feel, by and large,
    Some cash should be tendered
    For services rendered,
But I can’t quite decide what to charge.
    Anonymous.

I see this evident, that we willingly accord to piety only the services that flatter our passions.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
