Mayor of High Wycombe

Mayor Of High Wycombe

The High Wycombe Mayoralty is the only one of its kind in the whole of the world, whereby their Mayor and all his officers get weighed every year.

The Mayor of High Wycombe, a town in Buckinghamshire, England, is chosen each year at the Annual Meeting of the Charter Trustees. The Charter Trustees of the town of High Wycombe are councillors appointed to the Town Wards who have a ceremonial role as Charter Trustees in addition to their District Council responsibilities

Annually, one of the Charter Trustees is nominated by his/her peers to be Mayor of the town.

The office of Mayor is apolitical and the person represents the town at many civic and ceremonial events, both in the town and at other functions outside the town/district.

Famous quotes containing the words mayor and/or high:

    The mayor and Montaigne have always been two, with a very clear separation. For all of being a lawyer or a financier, we must not ignore the knavery there is in such callings. An honest man is not accountable for the vice or stupidity of his trade, and should not therefore refuse to practice it.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

    Gifts of one loved me,—
    ‘T was high time they came;
    When he ceased to love me,
    Time they stopped for shame.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
