Marriage and Family
Terhune married Maude Cassady and they had three children: Donald Roltaire, Robert, and Maxine. His son Robert was a stuntman who doubled burly actors like George Kennedy in films and when Kennedy starred in the TV series "Sarge" (1971-1972) in which the Oscar winning actor played a Catholic priest who had once worked as a homicide detective. Robert Terhune can be seen in a scene in "Silverado" in which he is guarding the nephew of Scott Glenn's and Kevin Costner's characters. Donald Roltaire was killed at age 27 in an automobile accident near Fresno, California, in 1958.
Terhune himself died in Cottonwood, Arizona, aged 82.

Famous quotes containing the words marriage and/or family:
“Worst, when this sensualism intrudes into the education of young women, and withers the hope and affection of human nature, by teaching that marriage signifies nothing but a housewifes thrift, and that womans life has no other aim.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“O how terrible it must be for a young man
seated before a family and the family thinking
We never saw him before! He wants our Mary Lou!
After tea and homemade cookies they ask What do you do for a living”
