Matthew Elliott (cricketer) - Move To South Australia

Move To South Australia

In April 2005 Elliott made a request to leave the Victorian team to join South Australia as player-coach; this was originally rejected by Cricket Victoria although Elliott appealed their decision. On 5 May a Cricket Australia grievance tribunal overturned Cricket Victoria's decision, freeing the way for Elliott to join South Australia.

In the 05/06 season Elliott struggled with injury and inconsistent form.

The 2006/7 Australian domestic season was equally disappointing, with just 193 runs at 13.8 from seven first class (Pura Cup) games. As a result he was axed from the South Australian state side. Curiously his form in the domestic one-day competition was much better with 465 runs at 51.6, highlighed by two centuries.

Famous quotes containing the words move to, move, south and/or australia:

America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers.
    William Burroughs (b. 1914)

Something hangs in back of me,
    I can’t see it, can’t move it.
    I know it’s black,
    a hump on my back.
    It’s heavy. You
    can’t see it.
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)

...I believe it is now the duty of the slaves of the South to rebuke their masters for their robbery, oppression and crime.... No station or character can destroy individual responsibility, in the matter of reproving sin.
    Angelina Grimké (1805–1879)

I like Australia less and less. The hateful newness, the democratic conceit, every man a little pope of perfection.
