Matt Gerald

Matt Gerald is an American actor, screenwriter, and musician.

He was born in Miami, Florida, USA. A graduate of The University of Pennsylvania, Gerald is best known for his role as Corporal Lyle Wainfleet in James Cameron's sci-fi thriller Avatar and, more recently, for his terrifying arc on Showtime's Dexter as the elusive predator, Ray Speltzer.

Other film credits include Faster, Elektra Luxx, In the Mix, S.W.A.T., Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Tigerland, XXX: State of the Union, The Minus Man, and Magnolia. On television he's had recurring roles on The Shield, The Unit, and Life, and has guest-starred on Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, CSI: Miami, NCIS: Los Angeles, Lie To Me, Saving Grace, Without A Trace, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

His recent projects include Red Dawn with Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, Freelancers with Robert De Niro and Forest Whitaker, G.I. Joe: Retaliation with Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis, The Frozen Ground with Nicolas Cage and John Cusack, and Escape Plan with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. He also recently completed guest-starring roles on Last Resort for ABC, Hawaii Five-0 for CBS, and Grimm for NBC.

Gerald is currently filming Solace with Colin Farrell and Sir Anthony Hopkins, due out in 2014.
