He was born in Kimberton, Pennsylvania. He is the brother of Anthony Crane, former J. Crew model. Matt attended the University of Honolulu and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Matt has worked as a model and has appeared in the mini series War and Remembrance and guest starred on the series Tour of Duty and Gidget.
Matt’s hobbies include water skiing, swimming and surfing.
He married former co-star Robin Christopher in 2000. They have two children together a son August Christopher (b. July 14, 2004) and a daughter Gianna Maria (b. July 10, 2006). His daughter Gianna used to play Skye's daughter, Lila Alcazar, on General Hospital, the daughter of Skye (Robin's character) and Lorenzo Alcazar before Robin and Gianna left the show in 2008.
They currently live in Los Angeles.
