Massachusetts Gubernatorial Election, 2010 - Democratic Nomination

Democratic Nomination

Incumbent governor Deval Patrick was opposed for the Democratic nomination by Grace Ross, the 2006 Green-Rainbow nominee for Governor.

On June 1, 2010, Ross withdrew from the race when she could not garner the amount of signatures needed to run, leaving Patrick as the only candidate in the primary race going into the June 5 Democratic State Convention. Incumbent Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray was again his running mate.

Famous quotes containing the words democratic and/or nomination:

No one can doubt the purpose for which the Nation now seeks to use the Democratic Party. It seeks to use it to interpret a change in its own plans and point of view.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

Do you know I believe that [William Jennings] Bryan will force his nomination on the Democrats again. I believe he will either do this by advocating Prohibition, or else he will run on a Prohibition platform independent of the Democrats. But you will see that the year before the election he will organize a mammoth lecture tour and will make Prohibition the leading note of every address.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)
