Marin Transit - Fuel Cell Bus Partnerships

Fuel Cell Bus Partnerships

Golden Gate Transit, in partnership with AC Transit and other transit agencies in the Bay Area, participates in the California Fuel Cell Program, which is sponsored by the California Air Resources Board and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE). The partnership includes a demonstration of fuel cell-powered buses designed to reduce the use of gasoline as fuel and instead use alternative, renewable resources to power new urban buses. Golden Gate Transit operated the fuel cell buses on several Marin Transit routes during the Zero Emission Bus Demonstration Program in 2008.

Famous quotes containing the words fuel, cell and/or bus:

It is now many years that men have resorted to the forest for fuel and the materials of the arts: the New Englander and the New Hollander, the Parisian and the Celt, the farmer and Robin Hood, Goody Blake and Harry Gill; in most parts of the world, the prince and the peasant, the scholar and the savage, equally require still a few sticks from the forest to warm them and cook their food. Neither could I do without them.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

She that but little patience knew,
From childhood on, had now so much
A grey gull lost its fear and flew
Down to her cell and there alit,
And there endured her fingers’ touch
And from her fingers ate its bit.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

Literature transforms and intensifies ordinary language, deviates systematically from everyday speech. If you approach me at a bus stop and murmur “Thou still unravished bride of quietness,” then I am instantly aware that I am in the presence of the literary.
    Terry Eagleton (b. 1943)
