Marie Killilea - Marriage and Children

Marriage and Children

She married James O'Rourke Killilea. They had five children: Marie, Katherine Anne (who died in infancy), Karen Ann, James O'Rourke Jr. ("Rory"), and Kristin Rose. They also informally adopted Gloria Kyle, although this adoption was never finalized legally.

The family lived first in Rye, New York; later they moved to Larchmont, where they bought a house they christened "Sursum Corda" with the proceeds from Marie's first best-selling book.

Famous quotes containing the words marriage and/or children:

We hope the day will soon come when every girl will be a member of a great Union of Unmarried Women, pledged to refuse an offer of marriage from any man who is not an advocate of their emancipation.
    Tennessee Claflin (1846–1923)

Houndsditch was ... a crumbling and smoke-grimed necropolis in boarded windows, mummified everywhere by old railings, stagnant air, and cobwebs, where draughty hallways reek with the smell of stale cabbage, Blakean children weep soot, and merchants patter with Mammon and make God evanescent.
    Alexander Theroux (b. 1940)
