Marianas Trench - Vocal Range

Vocal Range

Lead singer Josh Ramsay has a considerably wide vocal range, from D3, or a D below middle C in live performances of "Beside You" and as high as B♭5 in Masterpiece Theatre III. Ramsay has been known to use his falsetto, one of the reasons for his extended vocal range, and much of his earlier music with Marianas Trench from albums "Fix Me" and "Masterpiece Theatre" and some of his newer music with "Ever After" has implemented screaming. Guitarist Matt Webb, who has been known to alternate lines with Ramsay while performing live, has been known to reach as high as a B4 in one of their songs from their eponymous EP, called "Feeling Small". Performing live Webb has used his falsetto to reach as high as an E♭5 in Masterpiece Theatre III. Bassist Mike Ayley and drummer Ian Casselman both have vocal ranges comparable to those of basses, Ayley reaching at least an F♯4 performing Haven't Had Enough live. Casselman's range is generally unknown, save for a solo venture covering "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch", where he hits at least a G3.

Famous quotes containing the words vocal and/or range:

    With sweet May dews my wings were wet,
    And Phoebus fir’d my vocal rage;
    He caught me in his silken net,
    And shut me in his golden cage.

    He loves to sit and hear me sing,
    Then, laughing, sports and plays with me;
    Then stretches out my golden wing,
    And mocks my loss of liberty.
    William Blake (1757–1827)

    The more the specific feelings of being under obligation range themselves under a supreme principle of human dependence the clearer and more fertile will be the realization of the concept, indispensable to all true culture, of service; from the service of God down to the simple social relationship as between employer and employee.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)
