Marcus Wareing - Personal Life

Personal Life

He has a brother named Brian, who is a catering teacher. Marcus is married to his wife Jane, with whom he has three children, Jake, Archie and Jessie. He met Jane while he worked at Gravetye Manor, where he was second chef and she worked on reception. After moving to London to work with Ramsay at Aubergine, Wareing kept the relationship going by commuting out to Sussex every Sunday. Ramsay was the best man at his wedding in 2000, and is godfather to Wareing's eldest son Jake. Marcus lives in a multi-million pound house with his family near Wandsworth Common, having purchased the property for £1.3 million.

He has raised money for the charity Action Against Hunger, whilst working at the Taste of London festival, and is to compete in a charity boxing competition with other chefs and catering staff for the Hilton in the Community Foundation, having been an amateur boxer in his youth from the age of nine until he was eighteen. He has lent his name to the Environmental Justice Foundation campaign to promote sustainable fishing. Wareing has said his favourite cookbook is one by chef Daniel Humm at Eleven Madison Park in New York City.

Famous quotes containing the words personal life, personal and/or life:

The dialectic between change and continuity is a painful but deeply instructive one, in personal life as in the life of a people. To “see the light” too often has meant rejecting the treasures found in darkness.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

Adolescence is a tough time for parent and child alike. It is a time between: between childhood and maturity, between parental protection and personal responsibility, between life stage- managed by grown-ups and life privately held.
    Anna Quindlen (20th century)

Unfortunately, life may sometimes seem unfair to middle children, some of whom feel like an afterthought to a brilliant older sibling and unable to captivate the family’s attention like the darling baby. Yet the middle position offers great training for the real world of lowered expectations, negotiation, and compromise. Middle children who often must break the mold set by an older sibling may thereby learn to challenge family values and seek their own identity.
    Marianne E. Neifert (20th century)
