Radio

From 1980 to 1983, Cooper was the news and public affairs director of Pacifica station KPFK-FM, Los Angeles. He later served as the principal host of the one-hour weekly program, "Radio Nation", a production of The Nation Institute which featured the writers and editors of The Nation magazine. Cooper anchored the program from its inception in 1995 until he relinquished the post in 2006. He also hosted a daily talk show on KPFK between 1998 and 2001, which he quit amid disagreements with the dissident group which gained control of the station's parent Pacifica Foundation. Between 1995 and 2005 he served as host and executive producer of Radio Nation, the weekly syndicated radio show affiliated with The Nation magazine. At its peak, Radio Nation was heard on more than 100 public and community radio stations.

    Barré Lyndon (1896–1972)

Local television shows do not, in general, supply make-up artists. The exception to this is Los Angeles, an unusually generous city in this regard, since they also provide this service for radio appearances.
    Fran Lebowitz (b. 1950)

from above, thin squeaks of radio static,
The captured fume of space foams in our ears—
    Hart Crane (1899–1932)
