Manitou (Metro-North Station) - Platform and Track Configuration

Platform and Track Configuration

This station has two low-level side platforms each long enough for just one door of one car to receive and discharge passengers. The western platform, adjacent to Track 2, is generally used by southbound or inbound or Manhattan-bound trains. The eastern platform, adjacent to Track 1, is generally used by northbound or outbound trains. The Hudson Line has two tracks at this location. Trains travel between 60 and 90 MPH through this area.

Famous quotes containing the words platform and/or track:

I have never yet spoken from a public platform about women in industry that someone has not said, “But things are far better than they used to be.” I confess to impatience with persons who are satisfied with a dangerously slow tempo of progress for half of society in an age which requires a much faster tempo than in the days that “used to be.” Let us use what might be instead of what has been as our yardstick!
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

    What joy when the insouciant
armadillo glances at us and doesn’t
    quicken his trotting
across the track into the palm brush.
What is this joy? That no animal
falters, but knows what it must do?
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)
