Mangalore Airport (India) - Coast Guard Air Base

Coast Guard Air Base

2,000 square metres in the old airport at Bajpe will be used by the Indian Coast Guard for keeping its helicopters. In addition to the land at the airport which will be given on lease by Airport Authority of India(AAI), the Coast Guard had sought 15 acres from the State Government near the old airport to set up its base. It was yet to be given possession of the land. The parking of its helicopters at the airport will help strengthen rescue operations and coastal security.

Famous quotes containing the words coast, guard, air and/or base:

And ladies with their nails prepared for tea
And sunken barques that coast the shores of hell
And old men vacant of propriety
    Have faintly rung a next-door neighbor’s bell.
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)

It is rare indeed that people give. Most people guard and keep; they suppose that it is they themselves and what they identify with themselves that they are guarding and keeping, whereas what they are actually guarding and keeping is their system of reality and what they assume themselves to be.
    James Baldwin (1924–1987)

Spread outward. Crack the round dome. Break through.
Have liberty not as the air within a grave
Or down a well. Breathe freedom, oh, my native,
In the space of horizons that neither love nor hate.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

The base of all artistic genius is the power of conceiving humanity in a new, striking, rejoicing way, of putting a happy world of its own creation in place of the meaner world of common days, of generating around itself an atmosphere with a novel power of refraction, selecting, transforming, recombining the images it transmits, according to the choice of the imaginative intellect. In exercising this power, painting and poetry have a choice of subject almost unlimited.
    Walter Pater (1839–1894)
