Mangal Raj Joshi

Mangal Raj Joshi (1920–2005) was the Royal Astrologer of Nepal, whose family has worked for more than 20 generations for the Nepalese kings. Dr. Joshi holds a Ph.D. in Urban Study and Planning, and he was a professor at Patan College. Joshi was also the chairman of Nepal's "Panchang Nirnayak Samiti" and vice chairman of "Asian Panchang Samiti". Since Mangal Raj Joshi died in March 2005 at age 85 Nepal has been without a royal astrologer. Prof. Joshi, as Royal Astrologer, didn't predict the Nepalese Royal murders, a point taken advantage of by some persons wishing to disprove Astrology.

Famous quotes containing the word raj:

Dogmatic toleration is nonsense: I would no more tolerate the teaching of Calvinism to children if I had power to persecute it than the British Raj tolerated suttee in India. Every civilized authority must draw a line between the tolerable and the intolerable.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
