Medications
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved only two medications for the treatment of male pattern baldness; these are minoxidil (Rogaine) and finasteride (Propecia).
Both agents are recommended as first-line treatment for male pattern baldness. They may also be used simultaneously when hair loss is progressive or further regrowth is desired after 12 months.
