About Heyday
Heyday, located in Berkeley, CA, is an independent, nonprofit publisher and cultural institution that promotes widespread awareness and celebration of California’s many cultures, landscapes, and boundary-breaking ideas. Through books, public events, and outreach programs Heyday attempts to build a vibrant community of readers, writers, and thinkers. Heyday publishes about 25 books a year, sponsors over 200 events, and engages in many partnerships with California cultural institutions, from the California Academy of Sciences to the San Francisco Arts Commission.
Since 1986, Heyday has also published News from Native California, a quarterly magazine devoted to the Indian people of California. Written and produced by California Indians and those close to the community, News provides a portrait of traditional and contemporary tribal culture.
