The Malaysia national basketball team represents Malaysia at international basketball competitions. Its sole appearance at a world championship was in 1986. Petronas is the major sponsor for Malaysia Basketball Association. The women's national team have more successes internationally compared to the men's counterpart. The sport is predominantly played by the Chinese in Malaysia hence the non-existence of non-Chinese players. Efforts have been made to attract other ethnicities and popularise the sport in Malaysia.
