A majority draw is an outcome in several full-contact combat sports, including boxing, mixed martial arts, and others sports involving striking. In a majority draw, two of the three judges agree that neither fighter won (i.e. tied scorecards), while the third judge indicates one fighter being the clear winner on his/her scorecard . Thus, the majority of judges see the outcome as even and the result is announced as such, although one judge gave a clear victory on his/her card to one fighter.
The outcome is the rarest of professional boxing/MMA judged decisions.
Famous quotes containing the words majority and/or draw:
“In our governments the real power lies in the majority of the community, and the invasion of private rights is chiefly to be apprehended, not from the acts of government contrary to the sense of the constituents, but from the acts in which government is the mere instrument of the majority.”
—James Madison (17511836)
“Human beings ought not to draw in their antennae at every ungentle touch, like supersensitive insects.”
—E.T.A.W. (Ernst Theodor Amadeus Wilhelm)
