Mahamudu Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (born October 7, 1963, Tamale, Northern region), Ghana was a Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana until his nomination as a Vice Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) alongside Presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo. Shortly after the election Bawumia resigned as Deputy Governor at the Bank of Ghana. After election Bawumia left the shores of Ghana to work abroad. He returned to Ghana in 2012 and was again nominated by Nana Akuffo Addo to be his running mate for the 2012 Ghanaian elections. Mahamudu Bawumia's father was Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia who had been a prominent figure in the opposing President Rawlings administration when the NPP was in opposition.
