Magaluf - Resort

Resort

The resort caters for young singles and couples as well as families, with peak season during July and August. The winter season (November through March) sees the population of Magaluf nosedive consisting of mainly local residents, with most resort and package-based hotels closing their doors.

Magaluf consists of a white sandy beach and the notorious Magaluf strip, which is the centre for the main bars and clubs. Magaluf has notably seen a decline in its image, this is ultimately due to the binge drinking, which has resulted in the press releasing many negative articles. The negative reputation of the resort has meant that action needed to be taken to spruce up the resort for a new type of tourist. Meliá Hotels International started the required investment for the first stage in modernising the resort of Magaluf, by updating four hotels on the beach front, known as the Calvià Beach Resort, which opened in June 2012. The new facilities that coincided with the renovation of these hotels were two wave attractions called FlowBarrel and FlowRider as well as the Nikki Beach Club.

It is expected that within the next 5 years there will be renovation of other hotels in the area, changes in their use, improvement of existing facilities and construction of new facilities as well as the ability to attract visitors in the low season.

Famous quotes containing the word resort:

Before I finally went into winter quarters in November, I used to resort to the north- east side of Walden, which the sun, reflected from the pitch pine woods and the stony shore, made the fireside of the pond; it is so much pleasanter and wholesomer to be warmed by the sun while you can be, than by an artificial fire. I thus warmed myself by the still glowing embers which the summer, like a departed hunter, had left.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

What then in the last resort are the truths of mankind?—They are the irrefutable errors of mankind.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

It is now quite lawful for a Catholic woman to avoid pregnancy by a resort to mathematics, though she is still forbidden to resort to physics and chemistry.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)
