MADtv Recurring Characters - The Blind Kung-Fu Master

The Blind Kung-Fu Master

The Blind Kung-Fu Master (Bobby Lee) appears out of nowhere to perform heroic actions, such as saving an elderly person who is being robbed. Almost without exception, however, he fails miserably because he is handicapped by his poor vision, frequently running into solid objects or attacking the wrong person. Other characters exploit his blindness to play jokes on him; for example, when he was learning the martial arts, his teachers, instead of giving him the proper dragon tattoo, gave him a tattoo of a little girl with a balloon. At one point, by sheer chance he temporarily gained his sight and said "I've never seen myself before," implying he was blind since birth. However, shortly after gaining his sight, he used binoculars to look directly at the sun and became blind again.

Famous quotes containing the words blind and/or master:

    By the “mud-sill” theory it is assumed that labor and education are incompatible; and any practical combination of them impossible. According to that theory, a blind horse upon a tread-mill, is a perfect illustration of what a laborer should be—all the better for being blind, that he could not tread out of place, or kick understandingly.... Free labor insists on universal education.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

    Into the woods my Master went,
    Clean forspent, forspent.
    Into the woods my Master came,
    Forspent with love and shame,
    But the olives they were not blind to Him;
    Sidney Lanier (1842–1881)
