Usage in Names
The derivative form Madhur (मधुर, مدھُر) is used as a Hindu first-name for males and Madhu is a first-name common among females, although both names can occur for either gender. Madhuri is a common feminine variant of Madhur. The word madhur is a combination of madhu (honey/sweet) and -r/-ra (like or similar). Several other names are based on the root madhu, such as Madhukar, Madhusudhan, Madhulika and Madhubala.

Famous quotes containing the words usage and/or names:
“I am using it [the word perceive] here in such a way that to say of an object that it is perceived does not entail saying that it exists in any sense at all. And this is a perfectly correct and familiar usage of the word.”
—A.J. (Alfred Jules)
“Well then, its Granny speaking: I dunnow!
Mebbe Im wrong to take it as I do.
There aint no names quite like the old ones, though,
Nor never will be to my way of thinking.
One mustnt bear too hard on the newcomers,
But theres a dite too many of them for comfort....”
