2006 Campaign For United States House of Representative
In 2006, Collins moved back to Butts County and made an attempt to return to Congress against Democrat Jim Marshall. Marshall's redrawn district includes none of the territory Collins represented in his first five terms, but three counties that he represented in his last term. It made for one of the most competitive House races in the nation. Collins lost again, by only 1,100 votes.

Famous quotes containing the words campaign, united, states and/or house:
“The winter is to a woman of fashion what, of yore, a campaign was to the soldiers of the Empire.”
—HonorĂ© De Balzac (17991850)
“... when we shall have our amendment to the Constitution of the United States, everyone will think it was always so, just exactly as many young people believe that all the privileges, all the freedom, all the enjoyments which woman now possesses were always hers. They have no idea of how every single inch of ground that she stands upon to-day has been gained by the hard work of some little handful of women of the past.”
—Susan B. Anthony (18201906)
“In it he proves that all things are true and states how the truths of all contradictions may be reconciled physically, such as for example that white is black and black is white; that one can be and not be at the same time; that there can be hills without valleys; that nothingness is something and that everything, which is, is not. But take note that he proves all these unheard-of paradoxes without any fallacious or sophistical reasoning.”
—Savinien Cyrano De Bergerac (16191655)
“A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free.”
—Abraham Lincoln (18091865)
