M. O. P. Iyengar

Mandayam Osuri Parthasarathy Iyengar(1886-1963) was a prominent Indian botanist and phycologist who researched the structure, cytology, reproduction and taxonomy of Algae. He is known as the "father of Indian phycology" or "father of alcology in India".

The Dr M.O.P. Iyengar Memorial Award was instituted in 1983 by Mrs Rukmani Iyengar in memory of her husband.
