Honors

  • During the 2004-2005 school year the Milam Principal, Dr. Robert G. Valenzuela was a finalist for Principal of the Year.
  • Milam was the district winner for the Middle School division of SECME in Miami-Dade County during the 2004-2005 school year.
  • The 2004-2005 Milam Mousetrap team won SECME nationals in North Carolina.
  • Milam has a consistent record of scoring as an A school for the State FCAT grading system.
  • Milam was the Do The Right Thing winner, for most finalist in the program for all of the Dade Middle Schools during the 2004-2005 school year. In the following years, Milam students have consistently placed in the "Do The Right Thing Top 10 Winners".

  • The 2010-2011 Milam Mousetrap team was the district winner for the Middle and High School division of SECME in regionals. The 2010-2011 Milam Mouse Trap team consisted of Carlos Garcia, Diego Vega, and Yaneilys Amador. The 2010-2011 Milam Mousetrap team also placed 2nd in the SECME nationals.
  • The 2011-2012 Milam Mousetrap team was the district winner for the Middle and High School division of SECME in Florida regionals. The 2011-2012 Milam Mouse Trap team consisted of Bryan Alcarazo, Brian Sanz, and Daniel Rodriguez. The team placed second in the SECME Nationals.
  • A student from the school was the 8th grade winner of the 2012 Constitution Day Poster Design Contest.
