LEAP
LEAP (Lyneham Enriched Academic Program) provides an opportunity for high school children to enhance their learning, in the fields of Maths, Science, Social Studies (SoSE) and English. It provides a foundation for bright students intending to study these subjects at higher levels. The program is selective, with around thirty students being accepted in each year.
The requirements of LEAP are that the students are to sit the University of New South Wales tests in the subjects of English, Mathematics, SoSE (Studies of Society and Environment), and Science, as well as the National Geography competition.
LEAP students attend two camps throughout their schooling at Lyneham High School. In year 8, and in year 10.

Famous quotes containing the word leap:
“This, however, is my teaching: whoever would one day learn to fly must first learn to stand and to walk and to run and to leap and to climb and to dance:Myou cannot fly into flying!”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
“We must not leap to the fatalistic conclusion that we are stuck with the conceptual scheme that we grew up in. We can change it, bit by bit, plank by plank, though meanwhile there is nothing to carry us along but the evolving conceptual scheme itself. The philosophers task was well compared by Neurath to that of a mariner who must rebuild his ship on the open sea.”
—Willard Van Orman Quine (b. 1908)
“Never try to leap from a standstill.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
